Shoshone treatment - What's more wrong than this?

I was looking at the WITNESS site and I happened on to this
video which was chosen as the 'editior's pick' in honor of Earth
Week. This video depicts the despicable treatment of the
Shoshone people for the benefit of mining interests...in
our own 'backyard'. To help correct this injustice

Reorganizing...

Greetings,

Just a quick note to ask for patience while I reorganize this.
Some of the margins need to be adjusted so some backtrack-
ing might reveal wierdly configured posts.

In the near future this will be redesigned again to be more in-
teresting and will include 'Student Author'(hopefully) and
'Greener Designer' categories as I look about for designers
implementing 'sustainability' principles in their work...

Cleantech Blog

   

    The Cleantech Blog is an excellent place to keep up-to-date about
    the world of alternative energy. Richard T. Stuebi's post from
    Monday has some interesting observations on 'Cleantech' ads placed
    in Forbes Magazine (13) and then Steve Forbes editorial denying
    climate change. Read his post...

    Cleantech Blog has 13 contributors or so and is considered a
    '50 Best Business Blog' by the Times. What I also like is the slew of
    links on energy related topics so you can get a lot of info on emerg-
    ing technologies and their potential effects in one stop under head-
    ings like: Best of the Field, Energy, Global Warming & Carbon, Solar,
    Environment, Green Consumer & Tech, Greentech Media...and more.

   

posting lapse comes to a close...blah blah blah

Back again....

I had an overly long posting lapse for several reasons.

First, just as I was starting to feel purposeful with this little blog the
networks announced 'Green Week'. The first thought that came after
learning of it was "Well, I guess since 'green' thinking is now post crest
mainstream, who needs one more blog with someone saying basically
the same thing as '8 Million'(my 'default' exaggeration number) other
'wagon jumpers' who, though impassioned, clearly are not
top rung experts"- top rung - simply meaning more visionary rather
than merely chorus singers....if you get my drift.... Not to lessen
the contribution of chorus singers...mind you.
(though in all honesty 'Green Week' was rather a let down)

As I was contemplating this on several levels life sort of took over, i.e.
holidays, a family illness which turned out to be (luckily) more
'early warning' as opposed to devastating, then a well needed Mexican
vaca, and other stuff i.e. classical guitar came out of case and I'm now
obsessed with learning more about gypsy jazz and guitar making-
(yet my kitchen cabinets still are not finished-funny that.)

And so right about the time I was thinking I would not continue this
little blog endeavor school break ended, classes resumed and
after a the first model making assignment ended we gave an
assignment in which students could really benefit from researching
'biomimicry' in designing a simple mechanisms in which to develop
a product around. Then a blog again seemed like a good thing
to utilize toward that end.

and so it goes...lapse officially comes to a close.

Cradle to Cradle Online Forum Launched!

Cradle to Cradle Online Community Forum has been launched and is
now officially active. The launch was planned to correspond with
William McDonough's (Hannover Principles) presentation at this
year's Greenbuild Expo which run's from Nov 7-9 in Chicago.

Two membership options exist. The basic is free and the premium
is $97. for an entire year. If you are even mildly interested in cradle
to cradle manufacturing and design or lightening your carbon foot-
print as an designer, architect or company (or just want to know
more) you want to visit this forum.

These people were there at the beginning of 'Green'.
