In San Francisco, CA founder Ellen Raynor
has opened a new business this past week
to recycle post consumer carpet!

From there site -"Carpet currently makes up bet-
ween 3% and 5% waste in the landfill and
lasts a very long time!"

Much of what they 'recover' or collect feeds a
'cradle to cradle' process and is transformed
into new carpet again- this process besides
being a money saver avoids landfill build-up and
maybe more importantly reduces the "need for
virgin oil in the carpet manufacturing process".

Cradle to Cradle Online Forum Launched!

Cradle to Cradle Online Community Forum has been launched and is
now officially active. The launch was planned to correspond with
William McDonough's (Hannover Principles) presentation at this
year's Greenbuild Expo which run's from Nov 7-9 in Chicago.

Two membership options exist. The basic is free and the premium
is $97. for an entire year. If you are even mildly interested in cradle
to cradle manufacturing and design or lightening your carbon foot-
print as an designer, architect or company (or just want to know
more) you want to visit this forum.

These people were there at the beginning of 'Green'.

A Lighter Footprint

Yahoo has a Carbon Footprint Calculator that you can use to see what impact you
and your friends/family are having on the planet. What's great about it is that one
can instantly make a plan and 'pledge' to offset their impact.
In measurable amounts of carbon you can decide to what degree you can
lessen your impact through simple and often easy choices.

Equally good, or maybe even better is that the site shows how many others are
making a 'pledge' and to what extent their positive accumulative effect will be.

Current count:
62,050 People are pledging to save 168,467 TONS of C02/yr
Which is equivalent to 125 not driving for about a year.

Time announces 'Inventions of the Year'

Time has announced it's picks for best inventions of 2007 in numerous
categories with the iPhone winning as the best invention over-all. Even
with many well-reasoned complaints about the iPhone Time defends it's
pick logically enough for 5 key reasons.

A few examples among other catergories include: a $1,000 football
helmet(for kids!) that wirelessly transmits information regarding where
and how much impact occurs in the event of collision, a weeding Hortibot
which can weed (and water),  and the Sony's bio-cell which runs on
sugar(still in prototype phase).
